Creating a Culture of Calm | Standalone Morning Session (Indoor)
-
The Investment: £750 plus travel.
-
The Focus: Formatted explicitly for settings that already possess established Forest School provisions, dedicated sites, or internal outdoor learning leaders. This session is far more than INSET. It is a necessary opportunity to pause, to remember why we chose education in the first place, and to explore how we can create schools where both children and adults can truly flourish. A fully interactive, non-beige training session for those looking for something different.

More Than Training
Nobody wants to sit through the same INSET programme year after year. We need to feel that we are evolving and growing personally and professionally. That's why we offer a three-year rolling curriculum that changes focus each year, ensuring your team builds sustainable, internal autonomy without training fatigue:
Year 1: Regulate & Reflect (Expert-Led Foundation) The Connected Workplace - I lead your entire faculty through an immersive on-site journey. We reconnect with why we became teachers, identify exactly what we need to thrive, and unpack the heavy weight of the 'invisible rucksack' we carry into school. This phase introduces our Back to Basics outdoor team development framework on your school fields.
Year 2: Reconnect (Setting-Led Architecture) Finding Calm Within the Storm - We explore how to eliminate daily sensory overstimulation and structure functional sanctuaries across classrooms and staffrooms. This phase deepens your internal capacity with our rolling, collaborative Back to Basics outdoor team development with your team taking the lead and creating an immersive experience to support wellbeing and collaboration within the workplace.
Year 3: Restore & Sustain (Pupil Framework Design) - Your faculty actively designs a bespoke outdoor learning programme tailored specifically for your own pupils. Introducing our indoor morning session Protecting the Canopy - let’s spare some time to think about those at the top of the tree. Consider the filter effect. It starts at the top and trickles down. This phase concludes our three-year journey with an advanced Back to Basics outdoor experience designed onsite as a team, ready for you to embed into your school culture, take the benefits of spending time in nature back to your pupils and reflecting on the pillars of the Hygg-Ed Partnership - Educators - Children - Environment.
Blending reflective conversation with hands-on, nature-based experiences, we'll explore why calm matters, strengthen relationships and discover practical strategies that can be woven into everyday school life to
help create a culture of calm.

Creating a Culture of Calm

Regulate • Reflect • Reconnect • Restore
We will spend the morning together exploring why calm matters, the science of stress and the profound impact it has on our wellbeing, relationships and learning communities.
Together, we'll reflect on our journey as educators, gain a deeper understanding of what triggers our nervous system, and discover simple, practical ways to pause and regulate throughout a busy day.
We'll also explore how these restorative practices can become part of everyday school life, helping to create a culture of calm where both staff and children feel safe, supported and able to flourish.
A culture of calm begins with people. By slowing down, strengthening relationships and creating moments of genuine connection, we can positively influence the wellbeing and culture of an entire setting.

Back to Basics

Back to Basics
Together, we'll step away from the classroom and reconnect with the simple things that have brought people together for generations.
Shelter Building
Collecting kindling & firewood
Campfire building
Prepare & cook our lunch together
Simple whittling
Nature-based team challenges & problem solving
Time to slow down & connect with others
Getting back to basics gives us a chance to immerse ourselves in nature and truly live in the moment.
In this session, there are no job titles or hierarchy—just people, slowing down together, sharing simple experiences and rediscovering the value of connection, community and belonging.

Fireside

Fireside Reflections
As the day draws to a close, we'll gather around the fire for the final time to reflect on our
shared experience.
How did today make you feel?
Were you able to leave your deadlines and
to-do lists behind?
What have you learnt about yourself, your colleagues or your team?
How can we take this feeling back into our
school community?
How might we use the Four Rs to create a
culture of calm in everyday practice?
Each person will leave with one personal reflection and one meaningful commitment to help create a culture of calm within their classroom, everyday practice and wider school community.
